Nyhavn

København K, Copenhagen, Capital Region of Denmark, Denmark Despite its name Nyhavn (New Harbor) belongs to the oldest parts of Copenhagen. The harbor and channel were built by soldiers between 1671 and 1673 as a consequence of the enlagrement of the city when Kongens Nytorv was created in 1670. The danish writer Hans Christian Andersen lived in several of of the houses of Nyhavn and for a short period the White Star Line - the shipping company to which the Titanic and RMS Olympic belonged - had an office here.
