Convent of S. Francisco - Secano

Generalife, Granada, Andalucía, Spain Queen Isabel had a Franciscan monastary built on the ruines of a Nasriede's palace in 1495. After her death she was burried here until her bodies final relocation into the Chapel of Kings in Granada. The monestary was destroyed after the displacement of the Franciscans in 1835. It was later reconstructed as a residence of the landscape painters by Leopoldo Torres Balbás and was during the civil war used as a hospital. Since 1942 it has been used as a hotel.
