The Jacobite Express
, Caol, Scotland, United Kingdom The Jacobite is a K1 locomotive built in 1949 by the North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow, based on a design my Arthur Peppercorn. The fundamentals of this design date back to the 1920. The K1 is the third variant of the orignal 2 cylinder 2-6-0 loco, classified as a K2 by LNER. Its successor, the K4 was a 3 cylinder version. Further modifications to the K4 by Edward Thompson and Arthur Peppercorn lead to the K1, of which this 62005 is the only one that survived. The train is called after the political movement of the Jacobites in the late 17th and 18th century, who believed that the Catholic James VII of Scotland and his descendants should be restowed on the throne of Scotland. Which eventually lead to the Jacobite rebellion and the battle of Culloden. uuid="E91F5FB2-33EA-4201-AD0C-191430617DFC" id="United Kingdom lilleulven.com _K3_8263.psd Creative World lilleulven.com"
