Leaves Basal leaves long-stalked, stem leaves sessile just below single flowers. Flowers Erect, becoming drooping, bell-shaped, 5.5-8.5 cm diameter. Fruits Achene with long silky plume. Habitat Shallow calcareous grasslands. Distribution Native. England N of Thames. Rare and declining. (N and central Europe, E to Ukraine.)
