Cloudberry - Rubus chamaemorus
Low, dioecious, non-spiny, rhizomatous perennial, with annual shots. Stems Flowering stems erect, to 20 cm. Flowers Solitary; 5 sepals; 5 petals, 8-12 mm. Fruits Orange when ripe, with 4-20 drupelets. Habitat Hummocks in blanket bogs, upland moorland; to 1160m. Dist. Native. Locally abundant in upland Britain N from Pennines; very rare in Wales, Ireland. (N Europe, mts of S and E Europe.) Flowers: Jun-Aug.
