Kemera Bridge
Zmeitsa, Smolyan Province, Bulgaria The bridge is constructed out of riverstones without the use of cement or mortar and dates back to the 2-1 century BC. It once connected Filipopolis (today: Plovdiv) with Nikopolis ad Nestrum (7km east of Goze Deltshew in the province of Blagoevgrad). During the Ottoman rule of Bulgaria the bridge was part of the road to transport the taxes from Bulgaria to the Ottoman empire. Between 1878 and 1912 the bridge was part of the border between the Bulgarian and the Turkish empire. uuid="01DC63EA-E3CC-4C5A-8606-C4310C5613E4" id="Bulgaria lilleulven.com _K3_0579.DNG "
