The mountains of Te Aroha
Pentax K20D • ¹⁄₁₂₅ sec • ƒ / 8,0 • 42 mm • 100 • smc PENTAX-DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL II Te Aroha, Waikato, New Zealand The rural town is named after the highest mountain in the Kaimai Mamaku Forest Park, Te Aroha which peaks at 952 meters. In the late 1800s gold was found in the valley of Waiorongomai, which brought many prospectors to the area. Yet the goldmining proved ineffecient and in 1900 only around two hundred inhabitants where left from the previous peak at 2000. uuid="C6A2D0D2-BF60-4DF8-8C98-0AF1A1A1B550" id="New Zealand lilleulven.com 20130116_094250_NZ_Waikato_Te Aroha__www.LilleUlven.com.DNG New Zealand North Lilleulven.com"
