Chimney Tops, Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Pentax K-3 • ¹⁄₁₂₅ sec • ƒ / 8,0 • 27 mm • ISO 100 • smc PENTAX-DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL WR Sevier County, Gatlinburg, Tennessee, United States of America The day before this photo was taken I attempted to hike and climb all the way up to Chimney Tops, once more I didn't make it all the way up, as a matter of fact we decided not to do the steepest part as there were just too many people around. About a month after this photo was taken someone – by accident or on purpose? – started a fire on a remote part of the Chimney Tops trail. A fire, that would spread fast due to the still ongoing drought and warm weather that had delayed the fall colors of 2016. The fire would spread all the way down to Gatlinburg and not only destroy nature but homes and businesses as well as taking several lives.
